Tour de Frack Sets Off And Is Walkington Bound

A group of campaigners from Reclaim the Power will set off on their Tour de Frack today from Blackpool ending their journey in Walkington.

Earlier in the week protesters at the site on the edge of Beverley, where the bike ride will end super-glued themselves to the gates.

They said they took the drastic action after a government report was released that showed potential impacts of shale gas exploration on rural communities, including a drop in house prices.

A Government spokesman said:

“There is no evidence that house prices have been affected in over half a century of oil and gas exploration in the UK or evidence that this would be the case with shale.”

They went on to emphasise the Governments belief that Shale Gas is something they are backing adding;

“This Government believes that shale has a positive part to play in our future energy mix, providing energy security, driving growth and creating jobs.”

Following the incident in the week protesters accused the security guards of extreme and brutal force as things got physical on the front line for the second time in as many months.

Protesters have spent the past few weeks staging a peaceful protest at the Crawberry Hill site.

In July following an eviction notice being served Jon Mager slammed the decision saying Eviction Spelt Disaster for the area while another local resident described what he saw as Corporate Agenda.

Despite repeated claims by the council and that they are not fracking and have no intention of fracking the protesters have no plans to leave the site.
