Beverley Remain Top After Comprehensive Win Over Welton

2nd XI had a comprehensive 148 run victory away at Welton & Brough on Saturday.

Returning skipper lost the toss and the Beavers were asked to bat first in difficult batting conditions. Beverley got off to a good start as Rob Fish scored 26 in quick time before he was out.

Beverley lost two quick wickets but continued to keep the scoring rate going. and Ben Fish batted sensibly as they put on 120 for the 4th wicket until Best departed for a watchful 55. Rich Riley smashed a quick fire 24 off 10 balls until he attempted one big hit too many.

Fish soon followed for a well-crafted 51as Beverley finished on 224 for 7.

The home side found runs hard to come by against the opening pair of and Kez O’Brian (1-18). Kez Thompson finished with excellent figures of 3 for 21. Brad Graham (2-7) and Pete Parnaby (2-6) also bowled well and, with two run outs completing the wickets lost, Welton and Brough were bowled out for just 76.

The victory keeps Beverley top of the Division 2 South table with five games left.
