Improved Access To Talking Therapies For People Living In The East Riding

Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is committed to supporting vulnerable and has made improving access to talking therapies in the East Riding one of its top priorities.

The CCG has invested additional with a number of approved providers aimed at providing patients with better access to a range of talking therapies. The talking therapy services are aimed at supporting people who have moderate depression, stress or anxiety.

More specialist psychotherapy support for specific anxiety-type disorders is also available to support conditions including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and phobias.

Help will be offered in a variety of ways, depending on what works best for the individual and may include face-to-face sessions, group work, online support and telephone support.

The providers involved are:

• Humber Foundation Trust
• City Healthcare Partnership
• Psychology online
• Insight healthcare
• Newcastle Hospital Foundation Trust

Dr Gina Palumbo, Chair at the CCG said:

“We recognise how important it is for people in distress to gain swift access to specialist support and we have been working hard for some time to increase local availability and improve access.”

“We are confident that these new services and wide range of providers will help to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in the East Riding. They will also help us meet our commitment to supporting vulnerable people with mental health issues to remain healthy and independent.”

Access to these services is through patients GPs who can make a referral. People who are referred will receive an individual assessment, either by telephone or face-to-face and, if appropriate, will be offered a choice of treatment and Providers.

Patients who are already on the waiting list are being prioritised for treatment.
