Wizards Play Magical Football To Win In Giberdyke

U12s won the summer tournament in Gilberdyke with some excellent .

Starting against local rivals, , they struggled to find any consistency but with Edward Chappell making his first appearance alongside Adam Prince in defence, they never looked like conceding and the game ended 0-0.

Next up was a strong Victoria Dock team but the Wizards started strongly, and it was no surprise when Jamie Pettigrew put Harry Sadler clean through and he drove his left foot shot into the bottom corner to give the keeper no chance.

icky Dock were soon level after a mix up at a corner the ball was drilled through a crowd of players for 1-1. Mill Lane United pressed for the winner, and with a couple of minutes left Sadler broke free and fed Pettigrew that outpaced the Dock defence to make it the final score 2-1.

Local team Gilberdyke was next up and with George Addison scoring two great goals, the Wizards topped the group with a comfortable 2-0 win.

In the semi-final was the other Victoria Dock team and after a tight affair with few chances, it came down to penalties. After Ben Gillyon (the stand in keeper) pulled off a great save to bring the sides level at four penalties each, he then converted his own penalty to put the Wizards in the final.

The final against Sproatley saw a cagey first half with both sides looking for the early breakthrough. As the half wore on both teams created some good openings but couldn’t convert, and the half finished 0-0.

In the second, half the Wizards played a higher line and pushed their opponents back relying on the pace of Prince and Chappell at the back to snuff out any threat.

Finally, with a good flowing move the impressive Danny Wilson found some space and on the run smashed his left foot shot into the top corner to put the Wizards one up. With Sproatley pushing for the equaliser Mill Lane broke clear again as Adam Prince surged forward but his left foot shop came back off the post as the final finished 1-0.
