Beverley Braves U9s Bounce Back In Style

After a back to back defeats the Beverley Braves bounced back in style with an impressive display against Hull Dockers at the Veterans Day Festival.

With only 9 players available and in blistering heat, the Braves put on a performance the coaches knew they had in them. The defended well as a unit restricting Dockers to a single try in each half and significantly reduced their errors, an area of their game, which cost them in previous fixtures.

Mainly the first half was dominated by strong drives from William Wilson, and Mathew Smith and excellent ball handling led by Jacob Parkinson, James Marr and George Youngs. By the interval, the Braves managed to cross, the Dockers line on six occasions with only a single lapse in concentration leading to a Dockers try.

After the restart the Beverley Braves caried on with stronger running and crunching defence. This really was a complete team performance with Oscar Thomas, Beau English and Daniel Smith making some strong tackles and line breaking runs.

The Braves managed to cross Dockers line a further six times in the second half with some excellent passages of play and free flowing passing moves. As the heat and the lack of substitutes started to show Dockers managed to pick up their second try of the match before the Braves wrapped up the game with an full length of the pick move involving four or five passes.
