Children’s Hospice Named As Charity Of The Month

Throughout June, customers of the Beverley Building Society have been voting for which local charity they think should receive a £250 donation from the Society.

Votes have been counted, and the winner has been unveiled as St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice.

The Hospice is based in Grimsby and supports patients from across the East Riding and Lincolnshire.

Adrienne Hodgson, Hospice representative for Hull and East Yorkshire said:

“Many thanks to Beverley Building Society for their very generous donation of £250.”

“St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice relies on voluntary contributions to provide care for children up to the age of 25 with a life threatening or shortening illness.”

“The care is free of charge for the family and starts from the child’s diagnosis.”

“We currently have four beds and also provide respite care of a further four children on a daily basis. This year we are having a major redevelopment costing around £6million.”

“The first phase has already started, and we need to continue with our fundraising efforts to ensure the next phase can be completed.”

“This important work will provide 2 transitional en-suite rooms for the children who reach our upper age limit and to prepare them for the adult services.”

“It will also provide additional therapy rooms and a resistance pool to provide physiotherapy treatment.”

The Beverley Building Society’s Charity of the Month Campaign is now in its third year of running and has so far donated a total of £7,500 to a total of 30 different local charities.

Kamal Toor, Accounts Manager at Beverley Building Society said:

“The charity of the month competition has allowed our members to choose 30 different charities that they wish their Society to support, and it has been a great success.”
