MP tours 100km around his constituency – on a bike

, MP for Beverley and Holderness, joined over 300 cyclists for a tour around rural Holderness with the Williams Farm Kitchen Cycle Challenge last weekend.

The Challenge started and finished in Hornsea, going north first and then heading south into rural Holderness through the villages of Fitling, Danthorpe and Halsham as well as Rise, Roos and Aldbrough. Cyclists had a choice of two routes on the challenge, 60km and 100km.

Commenting about the challenge Graham said, “I was invited to take part in the event by two local businessmen, Peter Ward from Peter Ward Homes and of Communique , both of whom are keen cyclists and joined me on the ride. It was great to be out and about in the tranquillity of rural Holderness, with rolling hills and very little traffic; the area is perfect for , be that a leisurely amble or a 100km challenge.”

Peter Ward said;

“With the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire shortly it was good to get out and sample the delights that cycling round Holderness has to offer. Whilst we aren’t hosting any of the routes for the Tour, in this part of the County it’s still a great area to get on your bike. It’s hoped that many of those travelling to see the Grand Depart in early July will also spend some time in East Yorkshire and enjoy discovering the beauty of the Wolds and Holderness.”

Graham added;

“I thoroughly enjoyed the Williams Farm Kitchen Cycle Challenge. The event was well organised with two great routes to choose from that showcased the best of Holderness. At the end of the ride I heard fellow cyclists saying they had been to places they had never seen before and commenting on the lovely pubs, farm shops and facilities Holderness area has to offer.”
