Record Number Of Fans Enjoy P1 Power Boat Racing On The Humber

Thousands of people lined the Humber River last weekend to watch the Racing.

A vast improvement on last year’s event saw the water front transformed into see of people who turned out to cheer on the City’s team and their boat Hullabaloo.

Crew Gavin Feldt and Dave Taft who said about the day;

“This was the event we had been waiting for. There was a record number of race fans on the waterfront and there was huge amounts of interest from the community.”

“It was a really challenging course and the water was constantly changing, but we were happy with the progress we made over a tough weekend.”

“We are still getting used to the boat and the way people race, but as always we are going out there each and every race to give it our best and do Hull proud.”

There were other local interests on the Humber, Allam Marine had an entry and Beverley was also represented in the race with John Wilson piloting the Pertemps Boat, commenting on the event John said;

“Being born in Beverley and spending my early years on my parents farm near Market Weighton, the Hull event holds a special significance for me.”

“To see the way that the city has developed and continues to evolve is a real pleasure and the warm welcome and enthusiastic support we get whenever we visit is testament to the friendliness and vitality of the people of Hull and the local area.”

“I am proud to say I come from Yorkshire and our visits to Hull only serve to reinforce that conviction”

“Thanks again to everyone for their enthusiastic support and warm welcome. We look forward to being back with you in 2015.”

Carly Jensen who attended the event was very positive about her experience, she told HU17.net

“ I think the Marina and Humber Street area is very up and coming, the boat race was well attended, while there we also went to Dinostar and the Spurn Boat, I had a lovely time.”
