Just days ago local MP welcomed plans to give landlords a fairer deal pointing out the importance pubs play in the community, saying at the time;

  1. Punch Taverns is not and never has been a “brewery”. That’s the problem. They’re a property company that happens to own an estate of pubs. That’s why they know nothing about running them.

  2. Concur with Graham. Punch are a real estate holding group, not a brewery. Provision should be made to return to our historic system of tied houses and owner operated single proprietor freehouses. Pubs role in our social fabric is too important for them to be left to City folks chasing profit.

  3. Well again you can thank the government in their wisdom for forcing the breweries to sell off their holdings in the pubs, to these companies who have no other interest in the communities aside from profit. If the trend continues we will end up with no pubs in the future and that will be another british ikon that will be destined for the history books.
