£16k Teacher Training Incentive For Mathematics Graduates

Mathematics graduates are being offered a package worth up to £16,000 to gain their teaching qualification and secure a tutor’s role at East Riding College.

The incentive includes a 50 per cent contribution towards the cost of studying for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at the College, travel expenses during the course and a relocation allowance.

It is part of a national drive to increase the number of mathematics teachers in the further education sector and has been made possible by a grant from the Education and Training Foundation.

A selection process will take place during the summer, with the PGCE and placement starting in September and the successful candidate being offered a permanent teaching job at the College on successful completion of both.

, the College’s director of human resources, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate to be supported through the teacher training process and to be mentored by an experienced tutor, with the promise of a permanent job on completion.

“We are looking for someone who has what it takes to be a motivated and inspirational mathematics teacher, who can bring out the best in learners of all ages.”

The successful candidate will be enrolled on the PGCE starting in September, with their teaching placement being at the College and an experienced tutor being appointed to mentor them through the qualification.

They will also have the opportunity to take part in the College’s comprehensive internal and external training and development opportunities to support their continuing professional development.

Anyone who is interested in this opportunity is invited to an open day at the College’s campus in Gallows Lane, Beverley, on June 26.
