Road Closures For Beverley 10k

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is advising residents, motorists and the travelling public of road closures relating to the Hall Construction Group Beverley 10K, which is being run on Sunday, 11 May.

Beverley Leisure Complex will be used as the assembly point. Runners will then make their way to Eastgate and the starting point, which is situated between the junctions with Minster Yard North and Minster Yard South.

The race starts at 11.15am and takes the runners through Beverley to North Bar via Eastgate, Lord Roberts Road, Champney Avenue, Lairgate and North Bar Within.

Once through North Bar, runners turn left and continue west along the (A 1174) taking the left hand turn into Newbald Road, heading to the cross roads with Mill Lane / Walkington Heads. North Bar traffic lights will be placed on red for a ten minute period in order to give priority to runners turning left into York Road from North Bar Within.

At the Walkington Heads crossroads, runners turn left and head south along Mill Lane to the junction with the B1230 Walkington Traffic Lights.

At the traffic lights, runners turn left to start the return run into Beverley via the B1230 (Broadgates) / Keldgate Road / Walkington Road, Westwood Road and Newbegin, crossing into Saturday Market via Lairgate and Old Waste to complete the final leg to the finishing line in .

Details of Roads to be Closed and parking bays to be suspended

• All of Wednesday Market, Beverley (6am-2pm).
• Flemingate / Eastgate (11am-12non) between the junction with Armstrong Way to the junction with Railway Street.
• Lairgate (11am-2pm) from the crossroads with Champney Road and North Bar Within.
• Lord Roberts Road (11am-2pm) from the junction with Eastgate and Railway Street to the junction with Champney Road.

Wednesday Market will be completely closed, preventing traffic from accessing Lord Roberts Road, Champney Road and Lairgate from Railway Street and Eastgate.

Flemingate /Eastgate will only be closed 10 minutes prior to the start of the race and then for a minimum period to allow the mass start of the race to clear, with Armstrong Way to be used as a diversion route for traffic heading into Beverley. The railway crossing will be kept clear at all times during the closure.

Lairgate will only be closed for 10 minutes from the start of the race then intermittently to give runners on their return journey into Beverley priority between the staggered junctions of Newbegin and Old Waste.

Roads requiring rolling road closure between 11am-1pm

• Champney Road from the cross roads with Cross Street / Lord Roberts Road to the junction with Lairgate.
• North Bar Within, the whole extent.
• North Bar Without, staggered crossroads with York Road and Wylies Road.
• York Road (A1174) between the junctions with North Bar without and Newbald Road.
• Newbald Road, the whole extent.
• Mill Lane, the whole extent from the Walkington Heads / Newbald Road crossroads to the junction with the B1230 (East End / Broadgates traffic lights).
• Broadgate B1230 / Keldgate Road from Mill Lane/Bently Lane/East End crossroads (Traffic lights Walkington) to the junction with Walkington Road.
• Walkington Road / Westwood Road from the junction with Keldgate Road to the junction with Albert Terrace /St Mary’s Terrace.
• St Mary’s Terrace around the staggered junction with Westwood Road and Newbegin.
• Newbegin, the whole extent.
• Old Waste, the whole extent.
• Saturday Market, the whole extent of the cobbles.
• Toll Gavel, the whole extent.
• Butcher Row, the whole extent.

Beverley Athletics Club will steward and marshall the race and provide traffic management.

All road closures will be lifted once all the competitors have cleared the area and consistent with maintaining safety of spectators and competitors.
