Green Day @ St Nicholas Primary School

St Nicholas Primary School celebrated their annual Green day, a culmination of Eco- week in which the children learned about the environment and .

During Green day the whole school turned out in wellies and spent the day planting and weeding in the school gardens.

Luckily the sun shone and each class planted tomato seeds to grow which they will cook with when ripe. Other vegetables such as runner beans and peas also joined the list.

Money raised from the non- uniform day will go towards building more seating in the playgrounds that will also incorporate planting areas.

As part of the recycling lessons, 2 sculptures were designed and produced by the children using both the celebration theme of the school centenary and a number of recyclable materials.

They will be able to be viewed during the centenary celebrations on Wednesday 21st May 1-3.30pm
