England Women’s Rugby Bring The Brightest Talent To Defence School of Transport

This weekend Defence School of Transport hosted a training and selection camp for potential elite squad members for England’s Women Rugby Union team.

Around 40 ladies who play rugby throughout the North of England were put through their paces by staff from the RFU and given a taste of military life as they tackled a an assault course.

Under the RFU’s Women’s Performance Pathway the selection camp held at DST has been put in place with the aim of broadening the RFU’s female playing base and developing the best talent.

Throughout the training weekends DST has provided and the use of catering facilities, sports pitches,gymnasium and classrooms.

Lt Col Paul Stannett who hosted the event at DST said;

“We have been delighted to assist with the training camps and with players travelling from Carlisle and as far south as Worcester DST’s location has been ideal.”

“It is hoped that this relationship will continue for the coming season 2014/15.”
