Yorkshire Bank Raises £5000 To Fight For Every Heartbeat

Friends and colleagues from Yorkshire Bank (York Office) have raised £5000 for the (BHF) by taking on The Minster Way last year, in memory of a friend and colleague.

The team of sixteen completed their fundraising this month, with funds raised through a two-day sponsored Minster Way walk, a splendid 50-mile route between the Minsters of Beverley and York.

Duncan Brock, Relationship Manager, Yorkshire Bank presented a cheque to Sharon Oakley, BHF Fundraising Manager for North Yorkshire. Mr Brock said:

“We all know someone that’s been affected by heart disease – sadly it touches us all. Our colleague and friend John Spooner of Beverley suffered a fatal heart attack in February 2013, aged just 58, and we wanted to do something positive in his memory. It’s great to know that our efforts will make a difference in helping to fight for every heartbeat.”

Sharon Oakley at BHF, added:

“We’d like to thank Duncan Brock and his fellow Minster Way walkers for taking on this challenge and presenting us with such a generous donation today. We are a national charity that relies on local support and it is always very humbling and means a great deal to us when raise funds in memory of a loved one. Thank you also to their Yorkshire Bank colleagues, friends and family who generously gave sponsorship.”
