Monsters, Marionettes & Mayhem Guaranteed

The largest festival of British puppetry in the world gears up to return to Beverley in July.

Hosted in the heart of Beverley’s beautiful Town Centre, the 6th returns to cause fun and mayhem over two days and three nights between 11th and 13th July 2014. Featuring a lively series of high quality family, children’s and adult puppet shows, this established event is a hit with people of all ages.

With the promise of an exciting programme featuring monsters, marionettes and more professional puppet companies from the UK than ever before, if you think all puppets look like Muffin the Mule then think again.

Anna Ingleby, Artistic Director of the Festival, says:

“Our aim is to bring a wide range of artists with diverse puppetry styles to the area. We really want to create a lively atmosphere and enhance Beverley’s reputation as a thriving festival town.”

“In addition to our other main venues and The , we are taking over the whole of Beverley Friary for the weekend in a bid to make the Festival Hub even more exciting than previous years. There will be a buzz of activity day and night with many of the finest UK artists travelling to East Yorkshire for the weekend.”

‘The majority of puppet companies will be from the UK, making this a unique event and major showcase of the vast range of home grown talent from the world of puppetry.’

Additionally, the weekend will feature street performances across Centre, free outdoor events, workshops and refreshments.

The Festival’s funders include Arts Council England, Beverley Town Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

“This event would not happen without financial support from our funders and we are very grateful to them for their continued help. In addition to which, the support of the local community, businesses and volunteers is crucial and I would encourage anyone who wishes to financially sponsor or volunteer for the event or even offer complimentary accommodation for the artists to please get in touch, we would be delighted to hear from you.”
