Guitarist Richard Durrant To Perform In Beverley

Concert Toll Gavel

Richard Durrant will be performing at United Church, on Thursday, 10 April at 7.30pm with special guest Howard Beach on keyboards.

Brighton born guitarist Richard Durrant has, over years, developed his very own style of concert where classical and other more commercial forms of music can co-exist comfortably.

His onstage persona is just as at ease with an audience as that of the most lucid stand-up comedian (in fact he plays standing up as well, a real surprise when you learn that he performs truly virtuosic guitar repertoire at the very highest level) and his stage show is simply beautiful with specially commissioned visuals and carefully designed lighting.

In this series of concerts Durrant and Beach perform a stunning guitar and piano arrangement of Rodrigo’s Concierto di Aranjuez, in addition they’ll play their own version of Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in A minor and Julian Bream’s arrangement of Boccherini’s “Fandango”, this time with Beach on harpsichord. Durrant, flying solo, will also perform his show-stopping version of Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells as well as music by Bach, Barrios and Django Reinhardt.

Durrant has been touring the UK for years with occasional forays into Europe and South America, in he is something of a celebrity due to his championing of the music of the country’s most famous composer Agustin Barrios. For his concerts in early 2014 Richard Durrant will be appearing with keyboard player Howard Beach. Beach is another world class performer, perhaps best known for his work as the harpsichordist and founder member of controversial baroque ensemble Red Priest.

Tickets cost Adults £14 and Concessions £12 and are avalable from County Hall, Beverley on 01482 392545
