Yorkshire Warriors Raise Funds For Neighbourhood

A team from Beverley, led by Ali Crompton, will be heading across to Harrogate on 12th April 2014 to take part in Yorkshire Warrior.

Yorkshire warrior is 16 tough kilometres across the Yorkshire countryside with hills, bogs, 200m river walk, 1km underground tunnel,fire, ice bath, barbed wire, electric fence, crawling, climbing, log carrying, pressure washer firing range plus lots more.

Ali is taking part to raise funds for The Brink project, he said;

“About a year ago myself and a few friends had a chat about the general lack of neighbourhood spirit and so we looked at ways in which we could try and help bring people together and rekindle that sense of community. We got together a few people from our church that live in the Molescroft area and started The Brink.”

“Our dream is to help create a community who look out for each other, support each other and help each other in small ways that make a big difference. We have been running various social events, such as wine tasting, a Christmas fair and chocolate tasting, which have been well attended.”

“We also ran Picnic at the Pavilion, which saw around 400 people attend. We are looking to continue more social events and run the picnic event again this year however we are dependent upon the support of others to help cover running costs for these activities. We’re thankful to The Shed in Beverley who have been very supportive of our ventures and have kindly sponsored our team.”

owner of  The Shed in Beverley said;

“Since opening a year ago we have ensured that supporting local causes & activities becomes part of our identity. From girls football team kit, to bike rides from Lands end to John of Groats, a London and a runner, prizes for various function auctions, hosting a night for young people living with cancer and even hosting the treasure trail night which launched the Tree lights fund, certainly has kept us busy.”

“Supporting Ali in this activity though is close to our hearts. Young people and the wider local community becoming familiar with The Shed as a relaxed,  casual and unique bar & restaurant operation where you can take time out no matter what age you are helps us build an offer to be respected.”

“Having guests that are part of 2 or 3 generations enjoying this activity together makes it special for us and helps create great memories.”
