A fourth quarter touchdown by ensured the progressed in the play-offs doing the hard way against Liverpool John Moores in tough game of .

The Hull sharks booked their place in the play-offs with a convincing win over the Teesside Cougars, a performance that received a lot of praise from Seb Burggy.

The visitors today were a different proposition, they were simply better in every department, had some creative plays and were pretty good at throwing the ball forcing the Sharks to play from deep.

In order to win this game the Sharks needed to come from behind twice, leaving it late before scoring the all important touchdown after a 96 yard drive.

Sharks Running Back Will Hobbs who was involved in the match winning play after the game said;

“It was a close match, but we’ve trained all season to get this far and further. I’m proud of every single player and coach on this team and thankful to everyone who attended. It’s all about having fun and playing hard.”

One flash point in the match saw a Liverpool player ‘Ejected from the Game’ for an alleged attempt at punching an opponent, he was left to watch the game perched on wall from the safe distance of the car park.

It did not take the Sharks long to overturn the deficit and take the lead as they grabbed the game by the scruff of its neck going into the break with a score line reading 9 – 6.

A poor third quarter by the Sharks was taken advantage of by Liverpool who scored a touchdown retaking the lead for the second time in the game.

Going into the final quarter the Sharks needed to score if they were to avoid being eliminated.

With just 7 minutes left of the clock and starting from their own 4 yard line the Sharks put a 96 yard drive together that was finished off by Gui to send the Sharks through to the next round.

Hobbs believes the Hull Sharks have character and ability that it will take to progress even further after today’s win but is fully aware it will not come easy, he said;

“We’re confident in ourselves and that we can continue to do our best on and off the field to prepare for whoever we face. but there are no easy games in the play-offs and we’ll work tirelessly to make sure we succeed.”
