Inman Bags Five Tries As Braves Progress In National Cup

Beverley played host to the strong Bradford side and were hungry for a place in the quarter finals of the National Cup.

The game got off to the perfect start as Beverley, with pin point passes from , found Harry Inman at centre who powered over the white wash out wide.

A stunned Drighlington did not have time to regroup when the Braves were on the attack again with skilful moves using the full width of the pitch. The ball hit the left hand side again and Inman did the business and drove over the line. Beverley did not rest though and continued to hammer the opposition. The crowd did not have to wait long before Inman ran in his hat trick with another stunning team try finished with great strength.

The spectators would have been forgiven to think it was game over already but Drighlington put pressure in Beverley’s half and a tight defence held solid and quenched the attack but you could sense that the game was now more evenly matched and the tackles got more and more physical from both sides. Beverley’s pack were outstanding in both attack and defence today and their work load should be applauded. Emotions ran high and occasionally spilled over which totally levelled the match as Beverley’s composure was threatened and it was a timely half time whistle that allowed Beverley to regroup themselves at 12 nil.

Beverley restarted on excellent form again and a break from Joe Wardill released Inman with a timely last minute off load for another fantastic try for the centre. It was not long before Inman sealed his man of the match performance with his 5th try of the game showing he not only has strength but pace as well as he out ran the Drighlington winger and pulled away to put the ball down cleanly under the sticks.

Owen Harrison, who had yet another strong match, kicked the conversion in very difficult swirling winds. The opposition although battered did not relent and continued to drive at Beverley desperate to come back into the game and they took their chances and scored two good tries. With 15 minutes still remaining they fancied their chances and Beverley had to dig deep to regain control.

They did just that under pressure by completing their sets and keeping the ball in the visitors half until the final whistle.
