MP Visits Walkington Primary School

Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, has visited to hear about the vast improvement in standards at the school over the past 12 months and to congratulate the staff and pupils on their achievement.

Commenting, Graham said, “I am impressed with the way the school has moved in such a short time from the lower half of national performance to being in the top 12% while delivering outstanding progress and attainment in all subjects. This is a remarkable achievement for all those involved.

“I would like to highlight, in particular, the staff, whose efforts deserve the warmest congratulations.”

Head teacher at Walkington Primary School, said, “I was pleased to welcome Graham to the school and to share with him the many successes and strengths of the school. Staff, governors, parents and of course the pupils have worked hard over the past few years to deliver positive change to the school, displaying a real commitment to delivering a great education for children in the area. We also appreciated the opportunity to discuss local issues, such as fair funding, with Graham in his role as both our local MP and the Chair of the Select Committee for Education.”

Earlier this month the MP voiced his commendation of Walkington Primary School in the House of Commons when he spoke at length during the consideration of the Lords Amendments to the Children and Families Bill.
