East Yorkshire Bloggers Do Something Relay Good For Sport Relief!

As the nation gets in shape for the weekend, three bloggers from East Yorkshire and one that has been borrowed from Lancashire are making up a team to cover a regional section of a UK-wide relay in a bid to raise £20,000 for Sport Relief.

On 2nd March, Team Honk Hull will receive the Sport Relief baton from Sheffield and take it through Hull and Yorkshire to Leeds, and participants are aiming to raise as much money as they can by cycling, roller skating, pram-pushing and running.

Team Honk kicked off their challenge on Sunday 12th January at Lands End, and the relay will see 38 teams pass the baton in a variety of fun and creative ways, finishing in John O Groats on Sunday 23rdMarch. By the end of the race over 200 participants are expected to have taken part and signed special ribbons on the Olympic themed baton.

Joanne Brady of Kids Days Out Reviews said:

“We want the people of East Yorkshire to support us by cheering us on, sponsoring us and helping us to raise as much money as possible for Sport Relief.”

She added;

“I’m really proud to host the baton in Hull and East Yorkshire as our part of the world often gets overlooked in this type of relay due to our location. This is our chance to show others that Hull is a brilliant city, in a really lovely county, with a proud sporting tradition.”

Sport Relief takes place from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd March and for the first time ever the public can run, swim or cycle in the brand new Sport Relief Games.
