Christmas And New Year Message From Cllr Claude Mole

Christmas And New Year Message From Cllr Claude Mole

is the time for families and for children, it’s a time for reflection and renewal and a time when we realise that another year is coming to an end.

I hope that many of you will enjoy this Christmas with your families, and that children can enjoy the day as all children should, but tragically, there are many for whom this time of year cannot be the same.

As Chairman of the Council, it has been a privilege to visit many areas of the East Riding of Yorkshire and meet of all ages and from different walks of life. This has reinforced my belief that the East Riding of Yorkshire is a wonderful place to live. I have been overwhelmed by the commitment of so many individuals and organisations that are working tirelessly to enhance the area in which they live and work to make it a better place for future generations.

Recently, the weather conditions have caused serious problems over past weeks and my thoughts this Christmas are especially with those who have suffered loss through the recent flooding events and will be spending the festive period away from their homes.

I also think of all the men and women in the armed forces at this time who serve and protect our country throughout the year and will not be with their loved ones this Christmas. Separation at this time of year is especially hard to bear and I will be thinking also for those separated from loved ones, the elderly and vulnerable and all those facing the festive period alone.

We should all take a step back from our busy lives and enjoy time with our loved ones. There is nothing more magical than decorated trees, lights, presents, family and friends to brighten up our lives and spending this season with the people you care for makes it even more special.

I hope this season ends on a joyful note and continues into a safe and successful New Year for you and your family. My message to you all is not to dwell on the past too much but to use this time of year to reflect on the good things in life that mean the most to you and to make the most of the year ahead.

On behalf of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, I would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Councillor Claude Mole
Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council
