Influential Tupai Returns For Trip To Burnage

Influential Tupai Returns For Trip To Burnage

face a tough task this weekend when they travel across the Pennines to take on on their artificial pitch.

It is a matter of general agreement amongst clubs in National 3 that the ‘postage stamp’ size and the artificial surface of the Burnage pitch gives them a considerable advantage as is evidenced by their record there, where all the 5 matches they have won this season have been at home.

Nevertheless, following Beverley’s emphatic victory over last weekend, the squad were decidedly upbeat this week and when I spoke to Head Coach Anthony Posa he commented;

“Of course Burnage’s familiarity to their unusual pitch is to their advantage and we know that they will tailor their game plan to it, but it is up to us to combat that and that is what we will be working on this week in training.”

“To be honest the boys are enjoying their and just want to get out there and play at the moment. Think they would play on the moon if need be!”

As usual there is both good and bad news affecting Posa’s squad for this weeks trip. Strike weapon Lee Birch being the obvious casualty, the result of an unfortunate incident last week against the Bees. On the positive side of the ledger there is the possible return from injury for young Stuart Nel, together with the return of influential club captain Junior Tupai, who also missed last weeks match.

Bus leaves at 10-30am
