Top Award For 11 Beverley Cubs

11 Cubs from the 5th (Wesley) Pack have been presented with their Chief Scout’s Silver Award by Denise Hartley; the District Commissioner for Beverley & , at their last meeting before the half term break.

The Silver Award is the highest award that a Cub Scout can gain. They get it for completing 24 different activities over six separate challenges (Creative, Community, Fitness, Global, Outdoor & Promise).

This included Camping, Canoeing, Archery, Cooking on Open Fires, Building Bird Boxes and Planting Flowers for .

Group Scout Leader; Darren Burgess, whose own daughter Katie was the youngest of the eleven who gained the award said;

“We are absolutely delighted that so many of our Cubs have earned this award. It shows how hard they have worked and how they have really embraced all the fun and adventure that Scouting is all about.”

5th Beverley (Wesley) Scout Group was first established in 1928 & currently has 68 young members aged between 6 & 14 in the Beaver, Cub and Scout Sections.

Scouting continues to grow in popularity but unfortunately, there are around 40,000 young on waiting lists nationwide and locally there are far more enquiries than there are places available.

If they could attract more volunteers; they could open more sections and let more local boys and girls experience the benefits of Scouting.
