Posa And His Side Face Another Tough Test At Standbridge Lane

Beverley RUFC face another big test this weekend when they travel to promotion favourites Sandal at their Standbridge Lane ground in Wakefield.

Following their last play, heartbreaking defeat to league leaders Rossendale last Saturday, will travel with a quiet confidence that they can match any team in this league.

They will need every ounce of that confidence in what Head Coach Anthony Posa claims will probably be one of the more difficult fixtures National Three North will provide his young squad with this season.

Posa commented this afternoon,

“Sandal were extremely unlucky to miss out on promotion last season, and have experienced heads in key positions. On their home patch they don’t lose many, so we will have to pull out our ‘A’ game, no doubt there!”

On last weeks shattering injury time 32-35 defeat to Rossendale, Posa also commented, “Rugby, in fact , sooner or later will disappoint you, it’s how you deal with that disappointment that counts.”

There is a definite feeling around the club that his young squad is quickly maturing into a decent outfit, especially after playing some outstanding rugby at times last week.

Whether it’s quick enough for the ‘Sandal test’ this Saturday remains to be seen.

One thing is for sure, if the Beavers maintain this improvement, it will be a tasty fixture this weekend in Wakefield.

Added to that, Beverley could well be boosted by the return of key forwards , Sam Kerry and Joe Pickets who all missed the Rossendale match.
