Beverley Barracudas Win Fourth Successive Swimming Championship

Beverley Leisure Centre hosted the final Gala of the year’s series.

Home team, the Beverley Barracudas went into the Riding’s League Division One fixture knowing a win would see them secure promotion into the Premier Division.

Going into the gala the Barracudas were one point ahead of , their closest rivals who back in July had beaten the Barracudas.

Beverley Barracudas have enjoyed years of success in the pool, three consecutive promotions and three divisional titles under their belt the Barracudas only needed to win gala, something they were to do in style.

Promotion was secured when Em Wright brought home the Open Girls Freestyle Relay team in first place at which point the entire team knew they had clinched the title and promotion.

As the judges completed the formalities calling the results in reverse order, the Leisure Centre erupted when official confirmation of Bridlington finished second was announced.

Head coach, Jenny Stonehouse was thrown into the pool as the team celebrated a high successful evening and season.

Kieran Sheehan of the Beverley Barracudas said;

“It was a triumphant night for the Barracudas and Jenny and a testament to the hard work they have put in since the formation of the club in 2007.”
