Peter Tomkys, Co-Ordinator, said Beverley in Bloom is an entirely amateur organisation composed of whose common aim is to turn the streets of Beverley into colourful and productive areas that are not only a pleasure to look at but also a source of food.

This award is a testament to the work and commitment of its members.

Our aim this year has been to ‘Keep Beverley Special’ by planting the streets and open spaces of Beverley Town in the sequence of colours of a rainbow and promoting the Todmorden principle of free food available to everyone.

None of this could have been achieved without the financial support of Beverley Town Council, as well as the considerable and various work of its members and employees, all of which we are very grateful for.

Mayor of Beverley Councillor Martin Cox said:

“I am delighted once again in the success of Beverley in Bloom on gaining a Silver Gilt building on last year’s endeavours.”

“We have a tremendous team of volunteers who work tirelessly to make the town look great at all times of the year, and this summer they have excelled themselves. I would like to congratulate each and every one of them for all they do on behalf of the Town Council and residents of Beverley.”

“Visitors to the town often comment on how splendid the flowers look, which is a great compliment to us all.”
