MP Welcomes Rise In The Number Of People In Work Since The Election

Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, Graham Stuart has today welcomed new statistics that show the number of people in work in Yorkshire and the Humber has increased by 87,000 since the last election in 2010.

Welcoming the figures, Graham said:

“It’s great news that the number of people in work in the region is on the increase.”

“British is rising to the challenge of creating jobs and more people are being introduced to the workplace through schemes like The Work Programme, New Enterprise Allowance and The Youth Contract.”

“There is always more to do, but these figures are encouraging.”

“The renewable energy industry continues to offer economic potential to the region, specifically through opportunities with the offshore wind industry.”

“This Government is doing all it can to encourage energy giants like Siemens to the Humber region which will bring more and a much needed boost to our local economy.”
