MP Visits Tickton As School Crossing Campaign Gains Momentum

Residents in Tickton were joined by MP as they looked to apply pressure on the council to implement restrictions outside the local primary school.

Three local lads, Jack Marshall, Ben Voakes and Daniel Ellerington have decided to tackle the issue of the crossing as part of their Lifestyle Project.

All three of the boys are keen on having a road crossing installed outside of their school, and they have been running a petition and collecting evidence to present to the council.

On Saturday, Jack and Ben were at the school to meet the MP. Daniel was unable to be there as he had travelled down to Wembley to watch FC.

Judging by the number of people there it seems their cause has got a lot of local support. One of the boys mothers Lisa Marshall said;

“Something needs to be done, this road is very dangerous during school times. There are two park and strides set up in Tickton but these are not used, instead people drive right up to the school.”

“There have already been a couple of near misses, if they put some restrictions in place this would help keep the children safe.”
“We are very pleased to have Graham Stuart and Cllr Bradley Birmingham here today. We hope their presence will help create more publicity and raise the awareness of what the boys are trying to achieve.”

Graham Stuart and Councillor Bradley Birmingham spent time to speak to locals and listen to their concerns.
