Humberside Fire And Rescue Service To Hold Exercise At Beverley Minster

has today confirmed that are to hold a training exercise at the Minster later in the year.

On October 11th, crews from and Humberside Fire and Rescue Service will head up into the Tympanum Roof of the historic building and conduct a rope rescue exercise that will see them carry a dummy through the roof to the central tower.

The casualty will then be lowered to the ground to the ground from the roof inside Beverley Minster through the central boss hole.

The exercise is being held so the emergency services can practice the rescue technique they would need to use if an employee or tourist has an accident or was to fall ill in the roof of Beverley’s most well known landmark.

Six months in the planning it is the first-time anything like it has been done and it sure to make a great spectacle for those wanting to watch.

During the session there will be a viewing area so members of the public can watch Humberside Fire & Rescue in action.

Beverley Minster will remain open as a place of worship throughout the exercise.
