Solid Performance Earns Beverley A Winning Draw

1st XI picked up 24 points from a winning draw at home to Studley Royal.

Batting first on a lovely pitch at the Norwood Recreation Ground Town were given a good start by Tony Spence and before Jon Fisher came in to carry on his good work from last week to blast hit an excellent 75.

The styles of Cooke and Fisher complemented each other as they pushed the run rate to eight an over at one stage. Cooke went for 27 and, once Fisher departed, Olly Grantham and Matt Mudd (29) took over.

Andy Burton (30 no) and Grantham produced some great running to help push the total over the 250 mark. When Grantham was out for 72 Town were in a dominant position and closed on a massive 292 for 7.

Matt Mudd, and Jamie Roe all bowled well to restrict the visitors scoring opportunities as Beverley chipped away with the odd wicket too.

There was a welcome return for veteran Bayer Sayer who struck early in his spell bowling with his usual control. Studley could not match the Town run rate and batted for bonus points eventually closing at 204 for 8.
