Demolition At Defence School Of Transport

Demolition of old student accommodation blocks has started at the Defence School of Transport in Leconfield.

The jaded accommodation will be replaced by 4 new state of the art accommodation blocks, which will house 768 military personnel attending one of the driver training courses at the base.

Steve Robshaw, Project Manager from Lend Lease said;

“Construction works have been programmed to enable students to move into the new accommodation by Spring 2015.”

Colonel Rob Peacock, Commandant DST said;

“He was delighted to see and be a part of tangible progress towards making the lives of trainees at DST so much better.”

“DST and Lend Lease staff and contractors are working really well together to maintain the daily output during a complex project in the heart of the barracks.”

  1. I was based here when it was RAF Leconfield – 60 Maintenance Unit for English Electric Lightning.
    I lived in these blocks 10th August 1972 – 15th July 1973 when I worked in the Photo Section.
    I was then posted to RAF Luqa, Malta 16th July 1973 – 15th August 1973 with 11 Squadron (Lightnings) and returned back to Leconfield Photo Section 16th August 1973 – 4th March 1974.
