Braves Beat West Hull In Thriller At Leisure Centre

Braves under 10s overcame a very good West’s outfit with an outstanding performance up at Hodgsons, a great team performance full of spirit, guts and fair bit of skill on show.

The Braves came out flying and were ten nil up in as many minutes with two well taken tries and a goal from Cain Robb, who also contributed 19 tackles to the cause in a man of the match display.

West’s however, were not going to roll over and stormed back scoring 16 unanswered points after playing some good rugby in what was a fantastic game to watch. Over the last 12 months though this Beverley side has matured as a group and came out fighting in the second period.

With Josh Hamlyn, Matty Shirley and William Cohen, all causing problems with the ball and Charlie Gay and Jack Dixon along with Robb getting through a mountain of work in defence, at one point the Braves remarkably defended three straight sets on their own line.

They then went back up the other end and scored themselves, off a kick with Prop Owen Miller touching down, tagging on the extras 16-16.

This set up a thrilling finish and after some end-to-end action and repelling more attacks from the Braves went the full length of the field offloading out of tackles and making half breaks until in the very last play of the game when Miller repeated his earlier feat and after a bit of rugby, pinball plonked it down off a Tom Nuttall kick.

As the final whistle blew Coach Craig Collins was far too emotional to comment!!!

Final Score: Beverley Braves 22 West Hull 16
