Claude Mole Named As New Council Chairman

At the annual meeting of council on 9 May, Councillor was elected to be the new chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council and will serve until May 2014.

Councillor Mole, who lives in Shiptonthorpe, is a councillor for Pocklington Provincial and was elected in 2007. He is a widower, and has three grown-up children.

Councillor Mole is chairman of the council’s Licensing Act 2003 committee, and serves on the corporate and communities committee and the joint consultative committee. He also served on the NHS overview and scrutiny committee.

He was born on the Isle of Wight, moved to and then to with his work in 1986, and has stayed in this area ever since.
Councillor Mole said :

“ I very much look forward to my role which I see as promoting this lovely part of the world we live in, the East Riding and the Council of which I am chairman.”

“After serving as vice chairman for the last year, I have been fortunate to engage with some of the vast range of activities that go on in the East Riding.”

“It has been an illuminating experience to meet an eclectic mix of people in the area and see the impressive and extensive work carried out by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council for the benefit of the Community. I look forward to meeting and seeing even more as chairman.”

Councillor Mole’s nominated charity for the year is the Dove House Hospice Love You 2 Appeal, aiming to raise £2.5million towards the re-development of the hospice, the only adult hospice in the region, serving residents of Hull and the East Riding.
Councillor Pat O’Neil has been elected vice chairman of the council and will serve until May 2014.
