Tesco Beverley’s Store Raises £16,947 For Cancer Research UK

Staff At Tesco In Beverley Raise Over £1500 For Cancer Research

Dedicated Tesco staff and customers have raised a record breaking £11.85 million in one year for ’s lifesaving work.

The final sum smashed the £10 million fundraising target set at the start of the Charity of the Year partnership in March 2012 and is the biggest amount ever raised by a business and charity partnership in that time frame.

Customers, staff and suppliers throughout our UK network helped to contribute to the final total through a raft of different fundraising initiatives and events.

Tesco contributed £16,947 towards the total, making us one of the top stores in the UK.

Staff from the store took part in a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, including a festive-themed ‘Cycle to Lapland’ static bike ride, a superheroes weekend and a number of sponsored challenges. The store’s charity book stand was also a major contributor, raising £7919 during the year.

Richard Taylor, Cancer Research UK executive director of fundraising and marketing said:

“Tesco staff, customers and suppliers have gone above and beyond to raise a record breaking amount of money for our lifesaving work over the past year.

“Thanks to Tesco’s support our scientists can now focus on even more research to find out how we can get cancer diagnosed earlier and help many more to survive cancer in the future.”

Dave Ryley, Tesco Beverley’s Community Champion, said:

“We would like to thank all of our customers who donated money throughout the year and all of our staff who took part in the events.”

“We would also like to thank all of our local dignitaries and businesses who supported us in many of the events.
Both Tesco and Cancer Research really appreciate your support. Once again, thank you!”
