Beverley Community Choir To Perform At Toll Gavel

Toll Gavel

The popular will be supported by the young and talented East Riding Suzuki Violin Group in an evening of and song at Church, Beverley, on Saturday 11th May at 7.30 p.m.

The concert is the latest in what has become an annual event to raise money for local charities. This is the second year that the choir will be joined by the young violinists, who charmed the audience at last year’s charity concert.

Beverley Community Choir has gone from strength to strength since forming in 2003. Led by their enthusiastic Musical Director, Sue Murray, the choir is for anyone who loves to sing, though their popularity means that they have recently had to close the waiting list for membership. The choir regularly attracts a full house when they perform at Toll Gavel at their Christmas and Spring performances.

The East Riding Suzuki Violin Group was formed in Beverley in 1983, and is currently a group of about 30 young aged between 4 and 17, who all learn to play by the Suzuki Method. This method originated in Japan, and is based on the belief that talent is not inborn, but that all children have the ability to learn to play a musical instrument well. The group performs music in a variety of styles, and for this concert will include the well-known Canon by Pachelbel, as well as other pieces from Bach to folk tunes.

Proceeds from the evening will go to three very worthy local causes.

  • The Cherry Tree Association
  • Beverley Community Lift
  • Beverley and District Talking Newspaper

Tickets are £7 (Concessions £5) and are available from Beverley Tourist Information Office 01482 391672
