Beverley Building Society Voted As Having One Of The Best Graduate Internship Programs In The UK

At the National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) Awards in London last week, the Building Society had their graduate internship programme voted as one of the top three in the country.

The NCWE Awards are now in their 10th year and are widely recognised as the most prestigious in their category, encouraging and rewarding UK employers who provide valuable internships to students and graduates.

Presented by Timpson chairman, John Timpson the Beverley Building Society were commended on their provision of excellent work experience in a fiercely competed shortlist. Other organisations competing for similar awards were Fujitsu, The Citi Group and BP.

The high profile panel of judges were particularly impressed by the way in which the Beverley’s internship gave the graduate the opportunity to experience all areas of the organisation and to work closely with vastly experienced members of staff.

In 2012 the Society took on two new graduate interns from the University of Hull and after successful spells they were both offered permanent positions in the and Marketing departments. In addition to this, the Society also offered a permanent position to a Business Administration Apprentice who joined the Savings Team in April last year.

Peter Myers, Chief Executive of the Beverley Building Society said:

“For any graduate position to be successful it must bridge the gap from education to full time and by creating a supportive but challenging environment we feel we have the capability to do this.”

“The Society has always offered opportunities to local young people through work placements and most recently through the graduate internship programme. To be voted as one of the top providers of graduate internships in the country reinforces our commitment towards assisting the career development of local young people.”
