Beverley’s Good Form Continues At Rangers

The blue and golds clinically dispatched of a plucky Park Rangers outfit on a foul afternoon in Hull last Saturday. Coach Guy Adams had to contend with a number of absentees due to work commitments and forced him to re-shuffle his starting lineup.

was switched to stand off half; Lee Falcus was switched to full back and Ian Esselmont was drafted into the centre. The cold wet conditions made handling difficult causing handling errors aplenty from both sides.

The visitors first troubled the scoreboard in the 10th minute with Ryan Watkin deciding to take the defenders on and score beneath the posts. Watkin hit the posts with the conversion attempt which was his only miss out of ten conversion attempts in the game. Seven minutes later Watkins’s astute long ball sent Steve Davidson away for a try.

Davidson then became the creator sending Watkin away to draw the full back perfectly and send Gavin Proctor over besides the posts. After a few minute’s respite for the opposition, Watkin decided to take on the defence again and duly scored. Shortly after slick handling in the wet conditions sent Ben Calvert over wide out on the right. Just on the stroke of half time the hosts fell for the usual sucker punch with Gavin Proctor going over from the dummy half position.

Steve Davidson was revelling in the wet conditions and early in the second half he sent Proctor away for this third. Shortly after Proctor added his fourth again from dummy half. Ben Calvert then added his second try with an impressive burst of speed from the half way line. The home side then at last began to stem the flow of points and got a better share of possession and territory.

They managed a well-deserved consolation try in the 65th minute which was just reward for a battling display. Five minutes from time Dan Clarke then scored his second try in 2 games to complete the afternoons scoring.

Gavin Proctor’s four try display earned him the man of the match award, but he was ran close by pivotal displays from Steve Davidson and Ryan Watkin, who also added nine goals.

The blue and golds now have just three league games remaining and coach Guy Adams is targeting a minimum of two victories from these games.

He is hoping to finish in the top half of the table which would show significant improvement on last season.

The blue and golds take a break from league action this Saturday when they take on Hull Isberg at the Leisure Centre kicking off at 2pm. Hull Isberg are bottom of the Premier Division and have found life tough since last season’s promotion.
