London Men’s Fashion Week (LMFW), 7-9 January, showed audiences that this year men are going to be wearing anything orange, bold knitted jumpers, sporty jackets and plenty of explorer accessories. Over 60 fashion shows took place at the event and displayed the freshest and trendiest looks for men in winter 2013.

A common thread across the fashions shows was the outdoorsy and sporty vibe. These elements were mixed with great tailoring to create a unique relaxed and tidy attitude. Clearly the colour of choice for winter is orange. Across all of the shows, the colour palette was earthy. Aside from desert orange, rusty red, mossy green and ocean turquoise all made their way onto the catwalk.

The street-inspired looks, which appeared frequently in shows throughout the fashion event, will quickly be adopted by street-style experts JD Sports. It’s now just a matter of picking the best of their collection.

The parka was a popular item at LMFW and made a bold statement in an array of colours. Worn over tailored men’s shirts and suit jackets, this piece of sporty outerwear gave the neat, steam-lined look a very relaxed feel. You’ll need to have swagger to pull off this bright look, but a more subtle colour, like Duffer of St George in navy, will suit everyone’s style.
