Get The London Men’s Fashion Week Trends At JD Sports

London Men’s Fashion Week (LMFW), 7-9 January, showed audiences that this year men are going to be wearing anything orange, bold knitted jumpers, sporty jackets and plenty of explorer accessories. Over 60 fashion shows took place at the event and displayed the freshest and trendiest looks for men in winter 2013.

A common thread across the fashions shows was the outdoorsy and sporty vibe. These elements were mixed with great tailoring to create a unique relaxed and tidy attitude. Clearly the colour of choice for winter is orange. Across all of the shows, the colour palette was earthy. Aside from desert orange, rusty red, mossy green and ocean turquoise all made their way onto the catwalk.

The best of these looks will soon be seen on store shelves across the country, as popular brands reinvent the catwalk looks to suit every man.

The street-inspired looks, which appeared frequently in shows throughout the fashion event, will quickly be adopted by street-style experts JD Sports. It’s now just a matter of picking the best of their collection.

Duffer of St George Skate Park Parka

The parka was a popular item at LMFW and made a bold statement in an array of colours. Worn over tailored men’s shirts and suit jackets, this piece of sporty outerwear gave the neat, steam-lined look a very relaxed feel. You’ll need to have swagger to pull off this bright look, but a more subtle colour, like Duffer of St George in navy, will suit everyone’s style.

Timberland 6 Inch Premium Boot

Any chunky boots that looks like they’re made for working outside or hiking up a mountain are extremely fashionable this winter. Worn with thick woollen socks pulled over your trouser legs, these bulky boots will make you seem every bit the explorer – a common trend at the LMFW. Team these shoes with an oversized backpack and you’ll have nailed the catwalk explorer look.

Lacoste Triangle Hoody

Bright splashes of contrasting colours are a common sight on the men’s models during the fashion event. Anything that mixed up the minimalist design of a jumper, jacket or shirt was a success, whether it meant combining different colours or textures. This winter, look for sporty hoodies in boldly contrasted colours to ensure you stay on trend. This particular Lacoste hoodie has a triangular orange panel stretched across the front, conflicting with its basic black and grey backdrop.

Fred Perry Chinos

Tapered, tailored trousers are the staple for any man’s look. Sandy stone, deep blue or burgundy colours are the ones to go for. Consider wearing thick woollen socks either pulled over the bottoms or roughed up around the cuffs. These Fred Perry Chinos can be worn with suit jackets or woollen jumpers, depending on what look you’re going for.

Duffer of St George Hobbs Rucksack

An oversized explorer-style backpack will top off your look over winter. They’re extremely versatile and convenient, but it’s their stylish appearance in men’s fashion collections that have made them a must-have. Anything in a brown or mossy green colour with plenty of pockets for your general day-to-day exploring will be on trend.
