Hundreds Attend Beverley Civic Society Public Meeting

The public meeting called by the was attended by more than 500 people, and chaired by the Mayor of Beverley, Margaret Pinder,  with the chairs of Molescroft and Woodmansey & Dunswell parish councils, passed three resolutions unanimously:

1. That the setts in Saturday Market be retained and relaid in their present position, smooth pathways to be made across the setts in appropriate places for those with walking difficulties, and that  the pavements be restored in sawn York stone.

2. That the sale of Grovehill for retail be cancelled and the site to be used for a science, enterprise and business park.

3. As the proposed over-development of housing for Beverley will lead to unacceptable pressure on the historic centre, that  rethinks the present Beverley target of 3400 houses in 15 years.
