Beverley Lights Organisers Thank The Public For Their Support

The Beverley Christmas Lights Appeal Group would like to thank everyone who came into Beverley last night for the official Christmas lights switch on event.

Thousands turned out in sub-zero temperatures to hear music from Ti Amero, Beverley Brass Band, Beverley’s Unsigned Live and Longcroft School Gospel Choir. There were photos with Moshi Monster Katzuma and Father Christmas at the .

This all in the run up to the finale with in Wednesday Market and a spectacular fireworks display in .

Special thanks go to who provided huge financial support which helped to put our event on a new level.
Huge thank you to the local media who helped us to generate a buzz and raise awareness of the hard work our teams have done.

The event could not run smoothly without help of Beverley Town Council and we thank Helen Watson and Andy the handy man also Peter Jacobson from ERYC who makes sure the lights actually come on.

Hot food was provided by traders – John 2 Chefs and Andrew did the hog roast – all proceeds were generously donated to our appeal.
As a group we raise funds throughout the year to add more Christmas lights but also for their maintenance – all of which comes at a huge price.

For example the snowflakes on the lamp posts are over £1,000 each and the cone tree in Wednesday Market was £3,600 – in addition their new digital timers are £180 each. Thanks go to our team of organisers who ALL work year-round on a voluntary basis purely to make sure our town sparkle during the festivities.

Merry Christmas Beverley and thanks so much for your continued support – plans for next year are already under-way!!!
