Stunning Semi Final Victory For Skilful Braves

The Beverley Braves knew a strong start was needed against this tough Dockers side and they did just that with a number of impressive runs. The pressure paid off as Nathan Collinson bravely got possession back for Beverley on the Dockers line and directly from this the ball was swiftly moved across the pitch to find the hands of Owen Harrison who threw a lovely dummy to run the ball over the line and open the scoring. Harrison converting his own try.

Beverley maintained this intense attacking form, Connor Davies keeping possession well in the middle and James Sherwin made some exciting runs and you can see the momentum building as players pass the ball around and running at good angles. This excellent play culminated in Keegan Bartlett releasing a superb ball to Joe Wardill who strongly broke threw the Dockers defence to score.

Another such move not long after saw a strong run from Darren Benstead who is so powerful running forward and then a stunning pass from James McGahey which reached the sprinting Wardill running through and he scored again.

Harrison converted well. Dockers forced Beverley to defend at times and it was only strong runs from forwards and that got Beverley out of trouble as they eased the play away from their line. Tom Woods worked hard on the wing and another attack saw a great passing move between McGahey and Wardill which was fantastic to watch and was rewarded with McGahey scoring a great try and Harrison adding two points. McGahey added another superb try not long after with Harrison kicking and now Beverley had found their feet and totally dominated the match with a half time score 0 – 28.

The game restarted with kicking out on the full to give the ball back to Beverley. They used this well as Officer and Benstead broke through tackles forcing the ball to the Dockers line and Dylan Clifford picked up the attack and used his strength to add another four points. Harrison converted.

Another excellent attacking move saw Benstead use all his power and then released a magnificent ball to who was supporting him so well and scored a brilliant try. He quickly added another score as some fast hands released Gray again and he strongly ran over followed by another great kick by Harrison. Conor Egan made a couple of excellent tackles as Dockers made another attack up field but Beverley regained possession and a great off load found Clifford who twisted and turned his way up the pitch to score yet again. Harrison added the points and with only 25 seconds to go most would have thought that was game over but Dockers kicked off to restart and Wardill cleanly caught the ball under his own sticks.

He began his run up field bouncing off tackles and he found a gap and went for it accelerating beyond the chasing Dockers to score under the opposite posts to complete a stunning victory by the Braves with Harrison kicking once again.

Final score 0 – 56. Man of the Match was Dylan Clifford for his excellent ball carrying.
