Beverley Parks Apple Fest 2012

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has invited members of the public to attend a free festival to celebrate Apples at Beverley Parks Local Nature Reserve on Sunday, 14 October at the , Beverley Parks, from 11am-3pm, suitable for all ages.

The event has been organised and funded by the council’s countryside access team and the East Yorkshire Federation of Women’s Institutes.

Amongst the activities planned for the Apple Fest are falconry displays, environmental art, face painting and marquees packed with countryside activities and information.

The Women’s Institutes will be providing a multitude of apple-related sweets and savouries to taste, whilst Peter Blackburne-Maze will be on hand to identify apple varieties. Please bring three typical examples.

, countryside access officer for the council, said: “The Apple Fest at Beverley Parks is a wonderful opportunity to find out about preserving apple varieties, traditional landscapes and crafts.

“With a wide range of activities for all the family set in one of East Riding’s most fascinating nature reserves, this really will be a great way to spend a Sunday. And it’s free too.”

To attend the Apple Fest, simply turn up to the Millennium Orchard between 11am and 3pm.

Entry is free, but a £1 per car parking donation is appreciated as this helps towards funding the event.
