Beverley Face Second Derby With The Visit Of Malton To Beaver Park

Saturday sees Beverley RUFC taking on Malton & Norton in the second Derby match of the season at Beaver Park (Kick-off 3.p.m.)

Having narrowly overcome Pocklington last weekend with a patchy performance, the Beavers will be keen to recreate something like the form that they have shown hitherto this season.

Head Coach Anthony Posa said today;

“Last week end we allowed Pocklington to impose their game upon us and we must make sure that we learn the lessons from that.”

“Especially in Derby games, form and league position mean very little and it is important that we approach this Saturday’s game in the right frame of mind. I expect that Malton will play a similar sort of game to Pocklington.”

“We know that they have some quality players and they will not roll over easily.”

Beverley still have one or two injury problems and will not make their selection until after training on Thursday evening. Doubts particularly surround Phil Duboulay, Sam Kerry, Manu Kirkwood and Tony Riby-French. Sam Atiola is unavailable due to College commitments.

Although flanker James Holland will be out for 6 weeks or so with ligament damage, brighter news this week is that Matty Adams’s knee injury seems not so serious as first feared and he should be fit to return in a couple of weeks, and after a series of complications, influential back row and Player coach James McKay has at last received the all clear from the specialist to resume playing.

He will be fit for selection in a few weeks after regaining match fitness following a year out of the game.
