Debut Marathon for Holloway

Lewis Holloway of Beverley Athletic Club is celebrating after completing his first marathon last Sunday.

Unlike many athletes he did not choose a flat road marathon for his debut at this distance but a challenging off-road event which included cobbles, road, tracks and moorland.

Despite the tough terrain and hot weather he finished in an impressive 4:29:53 and in 23rd place.

The race started and finished in Haworth and although the route was marked in some places runners were advised to recce the course in advance of the race and carry a map to ensure they could follow the route and visit all the check-points.

There were 143 finishers and the race was won by Richard Pattinson of Pudsey and Bramley AC in 3:16:57. The first lady was Nikki Brockbank of Springfield Striders AC in 4:08:47.
