The Dog & Duck Real Ale Festival With Live Local Music Acts

The Dog & Duck will be hosting a Real Ale Festival in Beverley that will include twelve guest ales, a selection of ciders and live entertainment from local acts while raising money for local charities.

Chairman of the Beverley & District Rotary Club whose charity will benefit from the event said:

“This will be a great way to raise funds and put something back into the community.”

This is the first time the Beverley boozer has hosted a ‘Real Ale Festival’ and landlord Mark McMullen, whose family have run the Dog & Duck for over forty years, says feedback about the event is really positive.

Mark, who is also a member of the Beverley & District Rotary Club, told HU17.net:

“I have been thinking of different ways to raise funds and seeing how we have not had a Real Ale Festival in the pub it seemed like a good idea.”

“We will also have live entertainment across the weekend that will be featuring local talented musicians. The Rotary Club will also have a presence at the event collecting money for charities in Beverley.”

One of the musicians who will be playing is local artist . Sam will be performing on Thursday and Friday. There will also be Open Mic sessions in the final hour of the evening

Sam told HU17.net:

“I am thrilled to be taking part, there is lots of interest from local musicians and think the Open Mic will prove very popular. I want to encourage people to pop in and perform.”

Mark also added he has received a lot of support from Delia Thyne at Enterprise Inns; she too is keen to promote the Real Ale Festival in Beverley.

Delia said:

“Being a big fan of Real Ales, I am looking forward to this event, in the leisure industry the sale of cast ales from small brewers is one of the growth areas so as a company, we are keen to promote these events in our pubs.”

Enterprise Inns are also putting up a prize, giving away a eight gallons of beer to eight different people each getting one gallon. Free to enter, customers simply need to go to the bar and fill in their details. The winners will be announced on the Sunday.

In total there will be twelve different ales and a large selection of ciders for people to try across the weekend. Ossett Silver King will be poured in the pub for the first time in ten years!

The event runs from Thursday 4th October until Sunday the 7th October, and the pub will be extending its opening hours to accommodate the Real Ale Festival, Mark added;

“We will be open from 11am right through to midnight throughout the festival and serve food at lunch and in the evening.”

If successful, Mark is keen to make this an annual event in the Dog & Duck, something I am sure his regulars will welcome with open arms.
