White Sees Red But Town Still Move Second In HPL

Beverley Town FC has moved to second in the Humber Premier League thanks to a 3 -1 win over St Andrews at Bishop Burton College.

It was not all plain sailing for town, falling a goal behind inside eight minutes after a long ball left the town defence flat footed allowing a St Andrews striker to beat .

Just moments later things went from bad to worse for Beverley as Nathan White saw red for a two-footed lunge in the 15th minute.

Town are made of sterner stuff this season and were soon on level terms thanks a Ryan Nichols volley from a Michael O’connell corner.

soon gave Town the lead as he scored with a half volley that found the top corner.

Just before the break O’connell turned provider again this time setting , who from a corner rose like a salmon to head home making it 3 – 1.

Manager Dave Ricardo, who is one game into his nine match ban said of the game;

“I was once again extremely pleased with the result; we look fitter and stronger with each game we play.”

“On another day we would have more goals but credit must be given to St Andrews for a solid second half defensive display.”

When asked about the sending off Ricardo said;

“You can’t argue with the decision. Nathan appoligised to the players after the game, there is nothing that can be done about it now.”

Beverley Town FC will have the chance to go clear at the top of the Humber Premier League this weekend if they can beat Pocklington Town as first meets second.

Town go into the fixture missing a number of players with skipper Jonny Ricardo also a doubt as he continues to nurse his groin strain.

Ricardo added;

“We will go into that game with a lot of confidence, due to other commitments we will be missing about nine players though our squad is big enough and has plenty of talented to cope.”

“Rob Northern had a great game tonight, and we need him to be on song on Saturday if we are to leave Pocklington with all three points and end the week top of the table.”

“All in all, in all we are unbeaten now in ten games; the mood in the camp is good and for us, the games cannot come around quick enough.”
