Local MP Congratulates Burton Constable Hall on Heritage Lottery Funding

Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, has congratulated the Burton Constable Foundation on receiving a grant of £417,800 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The money will be used to repair, conserve and restore the Grade I listed red brick stable block at Burton Constable Hall.

As the first phase of restoration, a selection of the many historic interiors will be restored including stalls and loose boxes, tack rooms, stable master’s sitting room and grooms’ quarters. The Great Barn will continue as home to the skeleton of the Burton Constable Sperm Whale with a new display.

New volunteer facilities, community exhibition and workshop spaces will also be created along with a new visitor entrance. Public engagement will be encouraged through a series of open-access days during the restoration period. This project aims to increase visitor numbers and provide opportunities for volunteer and community participation and learning for all age groups.

Graham said,

“The Burton Constable Foundation do important work maintaining this historic Hall. It is great that they have received this HLF funding so visitors to East Yorkshire will be able to see even more of this fantastic house and its grounds, and local can be given a boost.”
