Brid Bash 2012 : Interview With Marcus Collins

 

A name and face that is familiar to millions in the UK after X Factor 2011, 24-year old Marcus Collins is one of the few X Factor runners-up to make it into the charts.

Having signed with RCA Records, his first, a cover of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” played on the radio but was snubbed as a poor comparison to the original. However, Marcus Collins’ new album is fun-loving and is made to get you dancing.

Marcus admits he likes a good chippy, but can’t eat fish and chips as he is busy in the gym and looking after himself, although he might make an exception for the finest fish and chips in the UK from Bridlington. He says “I go to the gym for the stamina. When I was on the X Factor I had to perform on the treadmill just so I could get used to singing and dancing at the same time. Gary Barlow thought that was a good idea, knowing how hard it is himself.”

In his previous career as a hairdresser, Marcus did a bit of everything from being a men’s barber to a Russian hair extension specialist. He managed to avoid cutting off any ears but confesses he did cut someone’s chain off by accident once.

What can we expect from him at this year’s Brid Bash?

He says: “My show is getting bigger and better every time so by 4th August at Brid Bash, my set will be outstanding.”
