Town Lack Cutting Edge In Win Over Barrel

Beverley Town continued their pre season with a 1 – 0 win over the Barrel Walkington.

Town play their football in the and would have expected to walk this game though almost fell behind when a Jonny Ricardo back pass lacked pace calling for Town’s new keeper, Nick Wianwright to save the skippers blushes.

Ricardo made up for his error moments later by almost scoring with a thumping header from the corner, but his effort hit the bar.

Shortly before the break Town managed to get through and take the lead as Eddie Birch scored what proved to be the only goal in the game.

Town’s boss Dave Ricardo told .net;

“I was pleased with the second half performance; we kept the ball and controlled the pace of game better.”

“It would have been nice to score more goals, but we struggled to create the chances for our strikers and that is something we need to work on.”

Walkington should look to take a lot of possitives from this result ahead of their new season. This was their first game back since the break and they gave Beverley Town a few things to think about.

Indeed had they taken their chances in the opening half could easily have caused a massive shock and come away with the win.
